Altar Servers have a most wonderful way of serving Christ through their special method of worship at Mass. As a servant to the priest and guide to the congregation, the role of Altar Server is holy indeed.
Qualifications & Skills Needed:
There are two qualifications to become an Altar Server: You must have received your first Holy Communion and you must have a strong desire to be an Altar Server. In-parish training to familiarize new altar servers is conducted as needed. Additionally, we offer a “refresher training” for all altar servers on an annual basis. We also offer on the job training, for new altar servers, albs permitting. Altar Servers who also administer Holy Communion need to have been Confirmed, and have received special training as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister.
Depending on the number of committed Altar Servers, they are assigned 2-4 times per month at their preferred Mass. It is
imperative they arrive 20 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass.
